Responsibilities

Our Retail Managers are responsible for all aspects of store management, including managing operational processes and maintaining the store in conditions of excellence to attract and retain guests, creating a positive environment for staff, and enabling efficient operations and high productivity. Successful Retail Managers will follow The Spice & Tea Exchange® (Step in Line) Principles, lead by example, and maintain consistent selling and service standards through communication, training, and individual accountability.

  • Coaching the team in company sales efforts, techniques, and other approaches to attract and retain guests
  • Developing and/or overseeing the development and approval of work schedules
  • Assembling, overseeing the assembly, and/or approving the assembly and pricing of products and inventory orders and other tasks associated with efficient inventory management and blend/product production
  • Maintaining information/item set up / pricing & discounting in the Point of Sale System and all associated item tagging
  • Receiving, supporting the receipt, and or overseeing the receipt of products into inventory and POS and associated follow-up required for backorder and credit memo-related communication with the Owner and Corporate Franchise Warehouse team
  • Planning, communicating, executing, and/or supporting the planning, and execution of seasonal in-store sales promotions and events.
  • Overseeing, contributing to, or supporting the provision of information for publication in local print, electronic, and social marketing media (e.g. Facebook)
  • Suggesting, drafting, reviewing, implementing, updating, and communicating operational policies and procedures in collaboration with the Owner to improve training, operations, and efficiency
  • Utilizing, maintaining, and improving utilization of computer, and software applications (including POS, all Microsoft Products, and dropbox shareware technology) across the team
  • Supporting the sharing of best practices between current and future stores
  • Other duties as they emerge assigned by the store owner
Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years demonstrated retail operations management (Manager or Assistant Manager): sales, people, product, and point of sale systems
  • Open availability of 40 to 50 hours/week, including nights and weekends
  • Strong selling experience required with the proven ability to meet or exceed performance standards
  • Interest, an affinity for culinary arts, fine cuisine, nutrition, wellness, spices, and teas (You don’t have to be a great cook but need to be excited about our products)
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a fast-paced environment with many moving parts
  • Excellent team building and leadership skills; we are looking for a seasoned people-oriented manager
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Physical Demands

  • Consistently operates kitchen tools on a regular basis in preparing daily blends.
  • Ability to effectively maneuver around sales floor and stockroom, repetitive bending, prolonged standing, twisting, stooping, squatting, ascending/descending, reaching, and lifting to stock and merchandise store
  • Must be able to stand and walk about the store 95% of the time to assist guests with their shopping experience
  • Frequently moves products weighing up to 50 lbs throughout the store
  • Constantly exposed to spice and herb odors
Compensation: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
